THE SOLUTION

Mechanical textile-to-textile recycling of used textiles that cannot be reused is an important solution to the global environmental challenges of the textile industry.

In our demonstration and research facility we will develop new fibres, from pure and mixed qualities, suitable for new textile production (closed loop recycling).

This facility is developed exclusively for textiles with unique patented technology and is the first of its kind in Norway.

In mechanical recycling, the fibers in textiles are defibered. The process does not consume water or chemicals and is a top choice for textile recycling.

Positive environmental effects estimated* for the industrialization of our facility:

  • Greenhouse Gas Emissions: Reduced by 119,000 tons of CO2e per year. This reduction is equivalent to 1.4% of all annual greenhouse gas emissions from Norwegian road traffic. Road traffic is Norway's third-largest source of greenhouse gas emissions (source).

  • Water Consumption: Saves 78 million cubic meters of water per year. This is more than double the annual water consumption in Oslo.

  • Waste: Reduces waste by 36,000 tons per year.

*These estimates compare recycling of fibers for textile production with virgin fiber production.
